Shotgun Coaching

At the end of the course, each candidate will have been given the information enabling them

to:

· appreciate safe shotgun handling techniques from the perspective of the training role

· explain the function of the modern shotgun

· explain the function of a shotgun cartridge

· appreciate factors that affect the performance of a shotgun

· perform appropriate shotgun cleaning and routine maintenance procedures

· appreciate the role of the shotgun coach, related etiquette and professional standards

· undertake a basic shotgun lesson applicable to this level

· appreciate health and safety considerations relating to shotgun use

· appreciate wider safety considerations concerning the coaching process

One-stop training and assessment

All of our courses provide both training and assessment, so that at the end of the course you know whether you have reached the Lantra Awards standard. If you are successful you will be awarded not only a Certificate of Basic Training, but also a nationally-recognised Skills ID Card stating your competence with 4 x 4s, together with any other Lantra Awards courses you may have already successfully completed.



OFF ROAD VEHICLES (4x4s)

Learn:

• the vital features of 4 x 4s and essential maintenance
• how to ensure the safety of yourself and others
• how to assess slopes and other off-road hazards
• how to drive safely and get the best from your vehicle in different off-road conditions

4 x 4 Professional Off-Road Driving

Two-day integrated training and assessment course for a maximum of three people.

• Vehicle knowledge
• Emergency procedures, including jacking
• Pre-start checks and vehicle preparation
• Correct move-off and driving procedures
• Use of 4-wheel drive and other traction aids
• Vehicle positioning and route planning
• Driving in a variety of off-road situations
• Checks prior to returning to the road.
